NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that Cyprus problem should be solved in order to advance NATO-EU cooperation.
In a press conference Rasmussen requested both the sides of Cyprus to move further in negotiation and find a solution and unite island. He further said that after solving the Cyprus problem, oil and natural gas drilling can be started, and beyond that, political hurdles regarding NATO-EU relations will be removed.
Last month Greek Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides prepared an application to join the Partnership for Peace organisation (PfP). And (PfP) is a programme of practical bilateral cooperation between individual Euro-Atlantic partner countries and NATO.
Turkey and Greece are NATO members.
